Guest violinist at IHOP-NW this past Mon.

 

This past Monday morning I was a guest electric violinist on IHOP-NW's (Int'l House of Prayer Northwest) very first intercession set in their new facility at Federal Way.  Check out the nice photo of the stage and team above.  God is moving in a mighty way here in the Seattle-Tacoma region!  Hopefully I'll upload more pics of the prayer room soon.

New CD release! Tears of Joy : instrumental soaking worship by Samuel Liu & Shujen Chen

On Sunday, November 23, 2008, my new instrumental worship CD was released!  This CD, titled, "Tears of Joy," with me on electric violin and my friend Mrs. Shujen Chen on keyboard, is probably the best soaking album that I have done.  The whole session was recorded live in a continuous flow, and everything was spontaneously improvised.
In the middle of the set, the Holy Spirit led us to launch into a spontaneous arrangement of "Nothing but the Blood," and at that moment the entire soaking set went up to a higher level in the Lord.  You would have to hear it and experience His presence for yourself.

Tears of Joy is Samuel and Shujen’s second collaborative album, recorded in October 2008, two years after My Offering.  Recorded at Soaking in the Father’s Love Weekend at Word of His Grace in Bothell, WA, Tears of Joy is one continuous live soaking session.  Following the orchestration of the Holy Spirit, the music was entirely spontaneously improvised.  The violin and the keyboard flowed as one river, carrying the listener into deeper intimacy with Father God.  Even the pivotal track “Nothing but the Blood” was unplanned.  The heartfelt arrangement of this classic hymn by Robert Lowry can be only attributed to the Holy Spirit.

    Samuel explains the title, Tears of Joy.  “When this album was recorded, I was in the midst of five weeks of deep inner healing.  During this time God flooded in and ministered to my past wounds and hurts.  Embracing me through the brokenness, pain, and suffering in my life, His love brought healing and restoration, and I am set free to be!  So what you hear in Tears of Joy is my heart responding to Jesus in gratitude.  The music imparts healing and thanksgiving, joy and peace, and ushers you into the rest of God.  And truly, those who sow in tears will reap in joy.  ~Ps 126:5”

About the Cover Photo:

It’s a picture I (Sam) took on my first mission trip in 2000.  These beautiful children were orphans and street kids in St. Petersburg, Russia, rescued by the local Christian orphanage I was serving at.  I had the privilege to befriend them and share with them the love of God.  I took this photo in the final days of my month-long trip.  I don’t know where these children are now, but whenever I look at their faces in the picture, God brings back memories and tears of joy.

The top picture is the group of friends I was with in the stadium. It was an incredible experience to be praying in unison with these folks and the thousands of prayer warriors on that monumental day in San Diego, for California, our nation, and the elections. Let God arise and His enemies be scattered!

Pictures of the new IHOP-WA prayer room!

I took these three shots (and more) at the new facility of IHOP-WA (International House of Prayer Washington State) in Mountlake Terrace last week. You can see the director Matt leading worship on guitar, Steven on bass, Matt's wife Manessah on lead vocal, and Ashley from IHOP Kansas City on backup vocal. This new prayer room has an intimate atmosphere and it is on top of a hill in MLT (Mountlake Terrace). The surrounding is peaceful and you can really draw near to God in this environment. Praise God for providing such a wonderful place to worship and seek Him!

Sat LIFE Siege Pictures

Here are three photos I took from the LIFE silent prayer siege in front of Planned Parenthood (in Lynnwood, WA) last Saturday. We met first at Mountlake Terrace Christian Life Center to watch a dvd by Will Ford on the roots of abortion, and prayed together, before going out to the site to stand and intercede. We had a larger turnout than last month, praise God! It was my friends George and Meghan's first time doing a LIFE siege, and both were greatly impacted by the Lord during it. In the top picture you can see my friends David, Beau, and Jeremy, and in the bottom photo the closest person to the camera is Matt, my good friend and leader of IHOPWA. We were also blessed to have two people from the Kansas City IHOP (International House of Prayer), Leah and Ashley, come and join us in prayer. Leah is David's sister.

First LIFE silent prayer siege in Lynnwood, WA

Today the brand new Bound4Life chapter in Washington state launched
our first silent prayer siege at Planned Parenthood (an abortion clinic) in Lynnwood, WA. For those of you who are not familiar with what Bound4Life and the silent prayer siege, check out www.bound4life.com for all the info. What we are doing is basically standing in front of an abortion clinic with the red LIFE tape on our mouth, to engage in silent prayer to God for the unborn babies to be saved, and for God to end abortion in America. We are repenting for the sins of abortion in America, the shedding of innocent blood of over 50 million babies over the past 40 years. The Bible states clearly that at anytime innocent blood is being shed in the land, God's justice requires judgment. We are pleading for the blood of Jesus to cover this serious iniquity, and repenting on behalf of our nation, and for mercy to triumph over judgment.

Believers across America are praying for this, for the end of abortion in the US, and over the past 5 years we have seen significant progress and hope. There are reasons to believe that the law that legalizes abortion could be overturned in our government soon. Please unite with us in prayer for this to happen.

We had a greater turnout than expected (I think 20+), and overall the prayer time (not a protest, but intercession) was a success! Praise the Lord! Some in our group even experienced the manifested presence of God with them as they prayed. Interestingly, right next door to the abortion clinic complex, was a restaurant which displayed the words "Love and Honor God." (see photo) I felt that it was an encouragement to us, and that what we were doing were exactly that, expressing our love and honor to our Savior, by taking a step of faith to launch out to pray for justice and mercy in our land. Others in our group also took more photos, and many of them will be uploaded to the new "Bound4Life WA" website that is being launched right now. I hope that these pictures will encourage and inspire you also to pray fervently for the unborn, for LIFE and the end of abortion in our nation.

This was not the first time I've done a prayer siege or prayed outside of an abortion clinic with other believers. A couple years ago I went up to the Justice House of Prayer (www.jhop.org) in Washington DC and was able to participate in several "silent prayer sieges" in front of the United States Supreme Court. I had also prayed with groups in front of an abortion clinic in Seattle, as a part of "40 Days for Life," another national LIFE prayer movement (see info below).

For those of you in the local Seattle region, if you are interested in getting involved with the local Bound4Life chapter, and come out to future prayer sieges, just let me know. There are also Bound4Life chapters all across the US, and so if you would like to get involved in one in your city, just check their website for listings. There is also another powerful LIFE prayer movement going on right now, that is praying in front of abortion clinic nationwide, it is called "40 Days for Life." (www.40daysforlife.com) And it is uniting Christians from all church backgrounds to pray for LIFE and the end of abortion. So you can check that out as well. I was a part of the local Seattle 40 Days for Life last year and it was a powerful experience in the Lord.

Today was just another step towards LIFE and justice and mercy in America. I believe that a breakthrough from the LORD is coming!

Resting in Boston

Being unable to change my flight to stay longer in Iceland, I went to the Blue Lagoon (see photo album below) on my way to the airport, and had a wonderfully relaxing time there, before catching my flight back to Boston. I sensed the peace and presence of God during that time, and I'm glad to be back in the States. This Iceland trip was unforgettable, and God did some mighty work through our team. Praise Him! In my last meeting a local Icelander stood up and prophesied that God will establish 24/7 prayer in his nation. Amen!
Now, I'm resting a bit in Boston, and I am getting ready to get back to the normal flow of ministry life in Seattle.

Blue Lagoon

Gulfoss Waterfall, Iceland

This is the largest and most powerful waterfall in Europe. Simply astonishing. You have to be there to experience it. We hiked down that icy trail (see picture) to the rocks right next to the fall. It was so slippery that we were hanging on to the jagged rocks for dear life. Thank God for bringing me to this wonderful place!
Last night we went to lead worship at a church meeting in a place that was formerly a bar. The fire of God and the power of the Holy Spirit was evident in that place. The room was packed to the max, and they didn't have chairs for everyone. Some people stood the whole meeting and many others couldn't even get into the room. The atmosphere was electric. It was like an upper room meeting of Acts 2. We had a powerful time in the Lord.

The student newspaper at the University of Washington did an article about our "40 Days of Life" prayer vigil! Here is the photo from the article. You can actually see me in the background, wearing my hat, yellow rain jacket. Actually, you can see my portable chairs and Trader Joe's bag as well, haha.
